Getting to Argyll
|
Argyll covers a generous area of the west of Scotland. Our scenery is measureless; our hills are high and are roads are sinuous. The towns of Oban and Lochgilphead can act as grand milestones in our landscape. Most of our studios can give directions from these two towns and individual artists arealways happy to guide you over the phone.By car: To get to Oban or Lochgilphead, from central Scotland, take the A82 and travel along the west side of Loch Lomond to Tarbet . At Tarbet, either turn right to remain faithful to the A82 via Crianlarich and Tyndrum towards Oban or turn left and follow the A83 over the 'Rest and be Thankful' through Inveraray and on to Lochgilphead. Both journeys take between 2 and 3 hours. Lochgilphead and Oban are then joined to each other by 36 mile long A816. Travel along it in either direction between the two main towns or take the second leg of the A83 south from Lochgilphead to Campbeltown and, either way, discover for yourself the studios scattered and waiting down the side roads that lead you off. By Bus: Citylink bus services from Glasgow, Buchanan Street Bus Station to Oban and Lochgilphead. By Rail: First ScotRail from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Oban By Air: Oban Airfield.
