1 Name of Group
ArtMap Argyll
2 Objectives
- To create and motivate an actively participating artists’ group
- To provide a supportive and professional network for artists in Argyll that encourages verbal and critical debate
- To raise awareness of what artists do and how they contribute to the community
- To develop dialogue between artists and the public/community
- To encourage the development of opportunities for artists in Argyll and beyond
3 Membership
Full Membership
Is open to any practising artist living and working in Argyll who supports the objectives of the group and who fit some of the following criteria:
- Active involvement and commitment to professional development
- Commitment to Open Studio event/ gallery show
- Professional regard among peers
- Exhibition History
- Publications; reviews, articles, catalogues, leaflets etc
- Art Training
- Awards, scholarships, grants
- Commissions
- Work represented in public collections
- Related professional experience
Associate Membership
Is open to any non-artist member or anyone the committee feels does not meet the criteria but wish to be involved by interest or promote interests of the group.
Associate members can apply on a yearly basis to become Full Members – the Membership sub-committee will if required give a full and frank account of their decision process and advise on what steps can be taken to improve application for the following year.
The Membership sub-committee shall be of not less than 5 members.
4 Committee
- A The group shall be managed by a committee of not less than 5 members
- B The Executive shall be responsible for the administration and management of the affairs of the Group, including membership and subscription
- C The Executive Committee shall stand for 1 year, and shall be eligible for re-election on retiral. Executive members shall only serve three consecutive years in the same office.
- D The quorum for Executive meetings shall be 3
- E The Executive committee shall establish sub-committees for such purposes seen to be necessary.
5 Meetings
- A The executive committee shall meet at least 4 times per year
- B The group shall hold an Annual General Meeting in each year at such a date and place as the Executive Committee shall determine. To be advertised in a public place 14 days before the meeting.
- C A Special meeting of the group can be held on the written request of 3 members (email, letter), or on the written request of the majority of members
7 Finance
- A The executive committee shall keep records showing all income and expenditure of the group
- B Income and expenditure shall be presented to the AGM showing annual expenditure
- C A bank account shall be held in the Name of ArtMap Argyll, with two nominated signatories
- D All monies raised on behalf of Artmap Argyll Shall be applied to further objectives of the group
8 Changes to Constitution
No change can be made to this constitution except by resolution approved at an AGM or Special Meeting of the group by a simple majority of those present.
9 Dissolution
The group may at any time dissolve by resolution passed by a majority of members present and voting at an AGM. Any assets remaining after the satisfaction of debts and liabilities shall be awarded to local charity or voluntary organisation.
