ArtmapArgyll is the brainchild of a number of practicing artists and makers in Argyll. The initiative was to create a network to help promote the artists and their work while also raising the profile of Art in the area. The idea took hold and some twenty-odd artists have become involved in this first open weekend, with more committing for next year. The range of work on show is really quite extraordinary in its variety, depth and choice of materials. Most artists’ studios are essentially private spaces so the chance to visit them and put faces to the names is an opportunity not to be missed.
The open studio/workshop weekend of 2-3rd August 10am-5pm is a must for any visitor or resident of Argyll, with the chance to see art glass, woodturning, sculpture, etching, weaving, and all styles of painting, outwith a gallery context. All this coupled with the pleasure of travelling through some of the finest landscape and earliest history in Scotland will make this event - the must visit, must see, must come again event of the year.
Plan your ArtTrail using the centrefold map.
The RED DOT numbers next to the artist’s name correspond to the dots on the map showing studio locations. Some are not easily found, even by the artists themselves, so look out for RED DOT signs at the roadside and don’t hesitate to phone for directions, but be aware that not all mobile phones have service in all areas. We guarantee that it will be worth the journey.
If you are unable to make the August weekend, keep this brochure to hand as private arrangements can be made with many of the artists year round, some are open daily anyway and most have web sites so you can browse online before setting out.

WE HOPE YOU HAVE AN ENJOYABLE WEEKEND AND LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR.
